About Harry: Your Fishing Guide
After living in Vancouver for several years, Harry MacDonald moved to Campbell River in 1985 to do what he loves best... FISHING! Every day he is on the water, you will see a smile on his face as he provides his guests with the best fishing, prawning and wildlife viewing available.
As a child growing up in the West Kootenays, Harry fished for trout with a telescopic fishing rod and fly reel that his father gave him when he was around six years old. As a young man, when Harry lived in Vancouver, he discovered steelhead and salmon fishing. After reeling in his first steelhead he was "hooked" and never looked back.
Harry soon discovered that the Hardy Brothers Silex single action fishing reel was the most exciting and sporting way to fish for steelhead. He has collected the various models of these reels over the past 25 years and has amassed probably the largest collection of these reels in the world. In addition to Hardy Brothers Silex reels, he also has many fly reels, level winds and other single action casting reels in his collection. Harry also has a very large reference library of various old catalogues and other books pertaining to antique fishing tackle. He also boasts one of the largest collections of old Lucky Louie salmon plugs around today. Fishing is truly Harry's passion! Who better to have as your guide?
Harry's boat, the "Dirty Harry", is a beautiful, 23 foot covered walk-around cruiser equipped with state-of-the-art power and electronics, the very best of tackle and washroom facilities. Harry has a lot of pride in what he does and it shows! He is a wonderful, charismatic host, and most guests become friends, fishing with him year after year.
